Happy Holidays!

No game update! Just Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and most importantly Happy Festivus. Hoping to complete Dyztopia by next year. Thank you to everyone who gave Dyztopia a try, and I hope next year more people will give it a shot! Thank you all! Now to talk briefly about the Hyztory of Dyztopia. (I'm sorry for typing that out.)

Dyztopia started on January 24th but before then it was a much different game. It has in first person and it starred "Mak" who was essentially the beta version of Akira.  I did all the sprites in fire Alpaca, which was NOT ideal. The main characters were Runi, Chase, and Akira"Mak"

Yeah!

It was meant to be more like a point-and-click game than an RPG. That changed pretty quickly when
A) Mapmaking was a PAIN to make in this style.
2)Making the prologue took a really long time.

I think had I stayed with this style, I would have given up on it. Which is what I did essentially.

I switched to Aesprite and went from full busts to Face pictures and most importantly...

We 2D now!

From that point, I started making and remaking characters like crazy. A lot of characters when through some crazy iterations. Some characters got cut, while others look totally different than their original concept. The exception to this I would say is Runi and Chase who has stayed very consistent throughout all of Dyztopia.

Well, except she had a sword.

Another cut character I had was Gray.  She was supposed to be a species that went extinct called the Aquans. She was going to be the main healer and recruited in Stage 5, but I felt that her story and character weren't what I wanted. She also had a language barrier so the only person able to speak with them was Runi.  Detritus at one point also had a Sister named Twelve. She was Zazz's favorite child and the favoritism was interesting to write, but ultimately she was cut because Akari ended up doing her job better, and I couldn't decide on a design I liked for Twelve.

And now after a year in the Pandemic, Dyztopia looks a lot cleaner than it used to. I'm really happy with where it is, and I can't wait to see what next year brings it.
